Thousands of garages across Warrington's post-war estates were roofed with corrugated asbestos cement. Most are still intact and low risk, but when a roof starts leaking or cracking, owners want it gone.
Test first
Not every grey sheet contains asbestos. A single sample confirms it, and tells the contractor how the job must be done.
How removal works
Sheets are dampened, unbolted and lowered whole rather than broken, then double-wrapped and taken to a licensed disposal site. You receive a waste consignment note. Cement sheets are normally non-licensed work, so the job is usually done in a day.
Replacing the roof
Most owners replace with modern steel or fibre-cement-free sheets in the same visit, leaving the garage watertight the same day.
